I Am Someone

I am someone I walked past a dead face even though the person was alive I saw my eyes in the mirror and cried at the sight I looked at a person I didn¹t know and I met a friend I got heads to turn when I walked past I learned a lot about myself when I lost a new friend I cried every tear in my body when I thought about love I got hit bad then got back in the ring I climbed a mountain of rocks and saw an eagle fly over- head I heard terrible things about myself when no one thought I was listening I realized I was strong when I didn¹t cry when it hurt I found out who I was when I was with someone else I thought I was lost forever when a friend found me I held a life in my hand and it was my own I was a pawn in someone else's game so I surrendered to a brook I walked the fine line between surviving and not wanting to survive I still am I am someone

My Gift To You

I live through my dark existence only to bask in your beauty your eyes that shine like sapphires your smile that brightens even my sad existence I envy the wind that runs through your hair that touches your lips I long to touch you to hold you in my arms but I cannot for your heart belongs to another so, I can only love you from a far your friendship means more to me than anything this world provides but like an angel you touched my heart in a way that I've never felt before cause I've never known what love is until this day I know that we are only friends but my heart wishes it to be more so I will still hope and dream that one day I can feel your lips pressed to mine to hold you in my arms and say, "I love you"

A New Day

When I awoke this morning, Lord
my first thought was of You.
For you have given me another day
by Your grace and love so true.

Now how I spend this day, dear Lord,
You’ve left that up to me.
I can choose to be smiling and happy
and be kind to all I see.

Or I can choose to be down and sad
like a weeping willow tree.
Thinking not of my fellow man,
but thinking just of me.

Since another day I might not see,
as nothing is guaranteed.
I need to live each day I have
sharing how my soul You freed.

It’s not easy in this world today
to keep oneself from worry.
I live in such a high-tech world.
I’m always in a hurry.

I’m working at a stressful job
trying to make a living.
I often forget Your promise, Lord
that You would do the giving.

You promised if I’d trust in You
that You’d always provide.
No matter what I faced each day,
You’d be close by my side.

I also need to remember, Lord
the depth of Your constant love.
You promised to be here for me.
I need only look above.

At times I need a reminder, Lord
that I am only me.
I cannot do it by myself,
for You, Lord, are the key.

So on this day, You’ve given me,
I choose to live it well.
Others will know I love You
for by my actions they can tell.
